Epidemiology and Risk Prediction of Cutaneous and Rare Melanomas

This line of research characterizes the epidemiology, risk factors, and outcomes of melanoma across cutaneous subtypes and rare variants. Studies span conventional cutaneous melanoma, acral melanoma, and other rare subtypes, examining the roles of neighborhood deprivation, sun exposure patterns, race, and prior therapy in shaping incidence, Breslow thickness, and survival in veterans.

Anchor result

Veterans in the most deprived neighborhood quintile had a 33% increased risk of thicker cutaneous melanoma at diagnosis compared to those in the least deprived.
