Absolute Monocyte Count

Absolute monocyte count serves as a dynamic prognostic biomarker for survival in patients with multiple myeloma. Fillmore and his collaborators demonstrated that abnormal monocyte levels at diagnosis are independent predictors of poorer clinical outcomes. Their findings suggest that longitudinal monitoring of these counts may offer a simple, accessible method to identify high-risk patients and track disease progression.
