Acral Melanoma
Fillmore and his collaborators have investigated the epidemiological risk factors associated with acral melanoma, a rare malignancy occurring on the palms, soles, and nail beds. His research identifies significant associations between this subtype and female sex, Asian or Black race, and a history of prior malignancies. Furthermore, his work suggests that exposure to Agent Orange increases the risk of acral melanoma in veteran populations, underscoring the role of environmental drivers in the development of this disease.
