Agent Orange Exposure

Fillmore and his colleagues have investigated the long-term oncologic risks associated with Agent Orange exposure in United States veterans. His research identifies a significant association between herbicide exposure and an increased risk of acral melanoma, a distinct subtype of skin cancer occurring on the palms, soles, and nail beds. These findings suggest that veterans exposed to Agent Orange may require specialized screening protocols to improve the early detection of this malignancy.
