Fillmore has investigated the impact of neighborhood-level socioeconomic disadvantage on oncologic outcomes using the Area Deprivation Index. His research demonstrates that patients from the most deprived areas face a higher risk of delayed melanoma detection and increased mortality in multiple myeloma. These findings indicate that social determinants of health contribute to poorer clinical outcomes regardless of individual patient characteristics or equal access to healthcare.
