Cognitively Unimpaired Elderly

Fillmore has investigated the relationship between systemic inflammation and the preclinical progression of Alzheimer's disease in cognitively unimpaired older adults. His research demonstrates that an elevated neutrophil-to-lymphocyte ratio correlates with increased markers of tau pathology and decreased cerebrospinal fluid Aβ42 levels. These findings suggest that peripheral inflammatory markers may be linked to Alzheimer's pathology independently of existing comorbidities.
