COVID-associated pulmonary aspergillosis represents a severe complication with a 50 percent 90-day mortality rate among vulnerable populations. Fillmore and his collaborators identified immune suppression, chronic respiratory disease, and advanced age as independent risk factors for the infection. Their findings indicate that these high-risk patients remain susceptible to fungal pneumonia regardless of their vaccination status.
