Framingham Heart Study
Utilizing data from the Framingham Heart Study, Fillmore and his collaborators have investigated novel biomarkers for the prediction of cognitive impairment. His research demonstrates that elevated platelet reactivity and a higher neutrophil-to-lymphocyte ratio are independently associated with an increased risk of dementia and Alzheimer disease. These findings suggest that systemic inflammation and platelet function may serve as critical prognostic markers for identifying individuals at risk for cognitive decline.
