Genome-Wide Association Study
Fillmore and his collaborators have examined the impact of phenotyping accuracy on the reliability of genome-wide association studies conducted within electronic health records. His research demonstrates that imprecise case definitions can lead to a substantial increase in false positive genomic associations. This work underscores the necessity of histologic confirmation to ensure the validity of identified genetic variants in large-scale population studies.
