Health Disparities
Fillmore and his collaborators investigate the systemic drivers of health inequities, focusing on how socioeconomic status and healthcare delivery models influence cancer outcomes. His research demonstrates that while racial disparities in mortality may be mitigated or reversed in single-payer systems, neighborhood-level deprivation and social barriers continue to correlate with delayed diagnosis and higher mortality. Through these studies, he highlights the critical role of equitable access to screening and specialized surgical interventions in reducing avoidable disparities in patient survival.
