Hemodialysis Access
Maintaining vascular access is a critical challenge in the management of end-stage kidney disease. Fillmore and his colleagues investigated the prevalence of central venous stenosis in patients with dysfunctional dialysis access, finding that while the overall rate of stenosis was similar between Black and White patients, White patients demonstrated a higher prevalence of severe narrowing. Additionally, their work identifies diabetes as a significant risk factor for the development of these stenotic lesions.
