Hypomethylating Agents

Research conducted by Fillmore and his collaborators examines the impact of patient functional status on the efficacy and safety of hypomethylating agents in myelodysplastic syndrome. His work demonstrates that patients with moderate-to-severe frailty experience significantly higher rates of hospitalization and blood transfusions, as well as a 49% increased risk of death. These findings suggest that frailty assessments are essential for predicting clinical outcomes and personalizing treatment strategies for patients receiving these therapies.
