Light Transmission Aggregometry

Fillmore and his collaborators utilized light transmission aggregometry to evaluate the relationship between platelet reactivity and long-term cognitive outcomes. Their research indicates that higher platelet aggregation responses to adenosine diphosphate in middle age are independently associated with an increased risk of dementia and Alzheimer disease. These findings suggest that platelet function may serve as a prognostic marker for identifying individuals at risk for future cognitive decline.
