Myelodysplastic Syndromes

Fillmore and his collaborators have examined the impact of patient frailty on clinical outcomes in individuals with myelodysplastic syndrome receiving hypomethylating agents. Their research demonstrates that moderate-to-severe frailty is associated with a significantly higher risk of death, as well as increased rates of hospitalization and blood transfusions. These findings indicate that functional status is a critical prognostic indicator that should be integrated into clinical assessments to better personalize care for this patient population.
