Fillmore has investigated the impact of psychiatric and substance use comorbidities on long-term clinical outcomes in aging populations. His research demonstrates that these disorders are significant predictors of reduced remission rates in veterans with acute myeloid leukemia. Additionally, his work suggests that sodium-glucose cotransporter 2 inhibitors may offer neuroprotective benefits by reducing the risk of all-cause dementia among older adults with mood or psychotic disorders.
