Systemic Inflammation

Fillmore has examined the role of systemic inflammation as a potential predictor of neurodegenerative decline. His research demonstrates that elevated neutrophil-to-lymphocyte ratios are independently associated with an increased risk of developing Alzheimer disease and related dementias across diverse patient cohorts. These findings suggest that monitoring systemic inflammatory markers may provide a valuable tool for identifying individuals at higher risk for cognitive impairment.
