Treatment Underuse

Fillmore and his collaborators have examined the systemic drivers of treatment underuse, specifically regarding the administration of antiviral therapies for high-risk patients with COVID-19. His research indicates that provider failure to offer recommended medications is a primary barrier to care, contributing to preventable risks of severe disease and mortality. These findings suggest that standardized follow-up protocols and enhanced clinician education are necessary to close gaps in therapeutic delivery.
