Tumor Mutational Burden
Tumor mutational burden serves as a critical biomarker for predicting response to immune checkpoint blockade. Fillmore and his collaborators investigated how patient age influences these genomic signatures, finding that older populations often exhibit higher tumor mutational burdens and increased expression of immune checkpoint genes. These results indicate that advanced age does not diminish the potential for immunotherapy efficacy and support the inclusion of elderly patients in clinical trials.
