Uveal Melanoma

Uveal melanoma remains a rare but aggressive malignancy with a critical need for a better understanding of its etiological drivers. Fillmore and colleagues investigated the relationship between systemic immune status and tumor development, finding that autoimmune and immune-mediated conditions may provide a protective effect against the occurrence of this cancer. This research suggests that heightened immune surveillance may play a role in reducing the risk of uveal melanoma.
